It has manufacturing facilities, laboratories, and subsidiary companies in Russia. It announced “suspending non-essential business activity in the country, including new investments, business developments and advertising” via a press release, explaining healthcare products are “generally exempt from sanctions for humanitarian reasons”. The same statement said it is “condemning the war” and calls for peace and stability in Ukraine.

Accenture provided consultancy services to Russian businesses. It released a statement saying it "stands with the people of Ukraine and the governments, companies and individuals around the world calling for the immediate end to the unlawful and horrific attack on the people of Ukraine and their freedom." At the time, it said it would discontinue all business in Russia. About a month later, the company said that it had "completed a transaction to transfer [its] business in Russia to several of its local leaders", claiming it was thereby "100% independent from Accenture".
This is a textbook case of a company withdrawing from Russia. Due to the complexity of doing so, there was a delay. Rather than scoring it as an incomplete Announcement when Accenture first stated its intentions to leave Russia on 4 March, which would have given it a low Degree Score but high Speed score, it is rated on the Full & Complete Announcement of 12 April with ten points for Degree and a low Speed Score. The Announcement was after IBM's on the day of the invasion, meaning we gage Accenture a Chicken Penalty of minus two points, bringing its Speed down further. On the positive side of the equation, Accenture's statement against Russia mad it a textbook Denouncer. Its Attitude Score was brought down by its donation to Ukraine being only about 0.1% of its profits. This is a classic example of a high Return on Sacrifice opportunity. Due to the huge Multiplier Effects that a business of this type can have on an economy its serves, we calculate its Power was ten times its Exposure. It would obviously have been even more damaging to Russia if the company had closed down the operation rather than selling or transferring it to the local team, but if the disconnection from the mother ship proves to be as complete and final as implied, and assuming this is not a holding pattern with a view to buying back the business in the future, it will have a real impact on Russia.

It said it would suspend support services to Russian airlines, as well as the supply of spare parts to the country. The statement also said that The Airbus Engineering Center in Russia (ECAR) has "put on hold all its operations for Airbus" and is "analysing" export control sanctions to determine whether engineering services ECAR provides to its Russian customers can be maintained. According to Business Insider, the company will keep importing titanium, since Russia provides half of Airbus' needs.
Airbus' behaviour doesn't match up to Boeings'. The company is trying to do the least possible against the realities and pressures it has faced. Let's start with the timing. It made its Announcement on 2 March. Boeing had already moved on 28 February, for which Airbus gets a Chicken Penalty of minus two points in its Speed Score. To make matters worse, it only made a Partial move: it will continue importing Russian titanium, directly and indirectly. It was also figuring out if its Airbus Engineering Center in Russia would be allowed under export control sanctions to continue to serve Russian customers, showing where its heart really is, which makes its move not only Partial but also Incomplete. The company is clearly trying not to cut off Russia, and instead is simply doing what it practically must rather than morally should. As a case of Partial & Incomplete, it gets only four points for Degree. The shortfall on both dimensions seems intentional. Of course, it has its commercial reasons – it is more dependent on Russian titanium than Boeing is – but it was Airbus' choice to be dependent on a regime-run nation that has been heading in the wrong direction for years, so the reason is no valid excuse. Against this behaviour, it is no surprise we saw no statement against Russia – silence compared to Boeing's middle-of-the-road comment – the absence of which landed Airbus in the Strong Silent Type category. The way to understand but condone Airbus' behaviour is to look at its Exposure, which we calculated at 7 compared to 2 for Boeing. The principal point is the very high dependency on Russian titanium, which, unless Russian dependency on the West, is one of the few Russian exports that can interrupt Western production. As a rough guide, this makes a total withdrawal from Russia 3.5 times more painful for Airbus than Boeing. Airbus, as the world's largest aircraft producer, needs to step up to a moral leadership position and make a Full and Complete withdrawal from Russia its desire rather that what we and others desire for it.

Alibaba mainly serves other countries through AliExpress. AliExpress Russia currently controls about 10% of Russia's e-commerce market, and plan to double its share to about 20% by 2025. After the invasion, the degree of exit remains unclear since the company is keeping quite and it is most likely to be still in the Russian market since their website is still working for Russian users.

The company, which operated 38 stores with over 320 employees, said it is "suspending" its Russian business operations "effective immediately". It stated it will wind down its operations whilst "taking care of employees". It condemned "Russia's aggression" against Ukraine, as well as pledging a donation to the Red Cross to support the Ukrainian people.
The company was a step behind TJX and Ingka. It made its move four days later, getting a Chicken Penalty. Also, suspending operations and supporting employees makes it a Weasel with 5 points for Degree. Like TJX, it was a Denouncer, but in Alimentation's case it is keeping its oar in to re-open while TJX has committed to a total departure. Indeed, it's hard to imagine that it will be easy for Alimentation to reopen in a country it has blamed for aggression in a war. Reminds us of the Unilever and L'Oréal Denouncer statements that are going to make life difficult for them as well.

According to the company's press release, it stated its "readiness to comply with emerging sanctions and regulations." In a later statement acquired through Reuters, it Announced its "operating entities are no longer underwriting new insurance business in Russia" and it is "decisively reducing exposure in an orderly manner". They have not made an Announcement regarding their current business Activities in Russia.
Allianz announced a halt to new businesses and investment in Russia on March 14th. They, however, froze their existing portfolio in Russia prior to the invasion and issued a statement of willingness to comply with all sanctions the day after the invasion. Additionally, the complexity of insurance means it will take time to plan out a withdrawal, so the company was fast in what they could and have withdrawn what they could, but the extent of withdrawal is unclear yet. The sacrifice was insignificant because Russia only represented 0.2% of the group's operating profit in 2021 and 0.3% of the group's investment exposure.

A spokesperson for Google told iMore that it will be "pausing Google ads in Russia" in response to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. iMore also reported that although it "has already banned Russian state-sponsored media from buying or selling adverts on its platform", it has been ordered by Russia's communications regulators to "stop showing Youtube ads that contained inaccurate information about military casualties.". According to Google's chief officer, the company kept its major services in Russia, such as search and maps, to "provide access to global information and perspectives.". Bloomberg also reports they operate an office in Russia, have assisted Russian employees interested in relocating, and removed staff from Ukraine as well.
In March 4th, Alphabet claimed that they are pausing Google adds in Russia, and has already baneed Russian state-sponsored media from buying or selling adverts on its platform. They have stopeed serving live trafic data in Google Maps. Besides Google, no other shutting down news or business activities are found in other subsidiaries. Google shut down its operations in Russia and did so quickly. Although, the tech giant did not make a great sacrifice in leaving Russia, so a socre of 8 seems the most appropriate.

It said it has "suspended" shipment of retail products to customers based in Russia and Belarus and will "no longer be accepting new Russia and Belarus-based AWS sign-ups and Amazon third-party sellers." The statement also reported "suspending access to Prime Video for customers based in Russia", and said it had stopped taking orders for New World, its only video game directly sold in Russia. As for the reason, it said, "We have a long-standing policy of not doing business with the Russian government" and it expressed "horror and concern" about the situation.
This is a company that has prided itself on not getting its hands dirty with Russia, specifically citing its long-standing policy of working with the Russian market from the outside. Given this pre-invasion distancing policy, it is surprising it took the company so long to make its move. Peers in online businesses moved earlier (Meta on 25 February and Alphabet on 4 March). For this delay, Amazon's Speed Score suffered a Chicken Penalty of minus two. It also suffered a Pressure Penalty of minus two for moving after it received a letter from the Ukrainian government asking it to cut off the AWS Cloud Services in Russia. Also, the wording of Amazon's statement (referring to historical policies and not ascribing its "horror" to the perpetrator) puts it in the Mealy-Mouther category. If it has never wanted to associate with the Russia government, why can't it admonish the invasion direction properly? Meanwhile, it made a big deal of the contributions to Ukraine, but as a percentage of its profits these are de minimus. For all of these reasons, this without-excused company could have got a rating of 100 instead of 66 . What's really important, however, is that Amazon did the right thing and delivered impact. Our calculations show an Exposure level of only 1, in part on account of the sheer size of Amazon, in contrast to a Power level of 10. This meant the company was looking at a morally/commercially irresistible Return on Sacrifice opportunity of 1,000%. Amazon made the right decision even if it were a no-brainer.

The company Announced it has "stopped all exports into its sales channel" and "disabled both traffic and live incidents in Apple Maps in Ukraine as a safety and precautionary measure for Ukrainian citizens", according to CNN. Apple also said it has "limited access to digital services, such as Apple Pay" and "restricted the availability of Russian state media applications" outside Russia. Washington Post also reported the company defied the Russian government by restoring an 'anti-Putin' opposition party app to the AppStore. While Apple itself does not maintain any direct retail locations in the country, it has not made a statement regarding its subsidiary Activities, Apple Rus Ltd, based in the country or its token office in Moscow. Slate reported it had changed its map display for users not in Russia to show Crimea as part of Ukraine, but the company "refused to comment on its current policy for users opening Apple Maps within Russia".
Apple seems to have been ahead of its peers in pulling out of Russia, and has done so swiftly, by ceasing sales and exports into the country. The company has also removed ApplePay from usage, and Russian owned media apps from download on the App Store. The company has also helped by removing live traffic information from Ukraine, so as to not give away any information to Russian users. When compared to Samsung, their direct competitor on the mobile phone side, they were vastly ahead, and on the computer side; when compared to Dell, they were on the same day. Additionally, the company has made sure to continue to enforce this policy after the announcement. For example, on March 28th, Apple suspended a loophole that allowed Apple Pay to work in Russia.

Economic ties (“Ties”) include any of these activities:
A Tie is measured on the ultimate parent company or organization level (“Entity”) and takes into consideration its subsidiaries, since that level entity can influence if not direct a subsidiary or brand’s decisions. The comments column may show comments about either the particular brand or the Entity.
We are especially interested in additional info about companies if they announced they cut ties but you think they are actually still working with Russia. You can email us in the window below
If you represent an Entity and it feels it is in the wrong category, you should email us in the window below a scan of a document signed by a director of the Entity we referred to, stating the category the director believes the Entity should be in as of the date of the statement. If you believe the Entity should be in the Ties cut category, the statement should say that the Entity has none of the Ties listed on our site. If you believe the Entity should be in the Mixed picture category, the statement should explain which Ties the Entity has cut and which it still maintains, their relative economic importance to the Entity, and what efforts it is making to cut the remaining Tie(s). If you believe the Entity should be in Ukraine also cut, Still supporting Russia. Forced to cut or No Ties before the invasion, the statement should explain your reasoning. Please note that communications from Entities without formally signed statements. as detailed above. will not be considered formal notifications from an Entity because we cannot coordinate multiple employee views from the same Entity
